Hello
UK
HOBART, Ronald William George - AC2c - 640749 - the Chelmsford Chronicle of December 29th 1939 reported his funeral. It records that he was struck by the propeller of a stationary aircraft and was killed instantly. His death was registered at Witney, Oxfordshire.
SELBY, Donald Cranston - Lac - 569377 - the Hampshire Telegraph of December 29th 1939 reported the inquest into his death. It records that he was accidentally killed when he ran in front of a train at Fishbourne Halt while returning home from a dance with some fellow RAF servicemen. It was thought he mistook the train, an empty special which was going to Portsmouth and not stopping at Fishbourne Halt, for the train he was intending to board and crossed the line in front of it.
WILLIS, Richard Hampton - Lac - 569344 - the Cambridge Daily News of December 22nd 1939 reported the inquest into his death. It records that he died of injuries when he was knoked over by a car driven by two RAF Officers. He was brought unconscious to the White Lodge hospital, Newmarket at 6.45 p.m. on Tuesday 19th December with a severe head injury, and died the next day at 2.00 p.m. He had been walking on the verge with a colleague when he was struck by the car, which could not stop in time to avoid him. A verdict of Accidental death was returned.
Regards
Simon
