Preston R.A.F. Sergeant's Death
The inquest was opened yesterday on Sergeant Joseph Valentine (31), R.A.F., whose home is at Oswald Road, Ashton, Preston, and who was fatally injured in a motoro accident on the Kirkham by-pass.
Sergeant Valentine, who joined the R.A.F. in 1937, was a worshipper at the Sacred Heart Church, Ashton, where Requiem Mass will be held on Thursday.

Christopher Shores et al, in Vol. One of their History of the Mediterranean Air War (London:Grub Street,2012. p.270), claim that P/O Lowther was shot down in No.33 Sqn Hurricane I W9325. Hurricane W9325 is recorded as Struck off Charge on 2 October, 1941.
