P/O Peter Corin BROWN RAF s/n 1800332 - Any information?

I'm trying to find some details about my Uncle P/O Peter Corin BROWN RAF s/n 1800332
HIs record card shows his name and number. with a typed "DU" on the card. What does this mean - "Discharged Unfit" ?
Born 5th June 1923 - St Pancras London, England.
I think he was sent to Canada for ab initio flight training
He flew fighters / ground attack and was shot down and very badly injured. Possibly 1942 or 1943? over NW Europe.
I believe he was taken prisoner and possibly exchanged as a severely injured POW via the Red Cross.
I don't know his RAF squadron.
If anyone has information about his service record i would be most grateful.

1800332 would be his pre-commissioning airman number.. the record card you mention is the AIR78 index card https://discovery.nationalarchives.g...ls/r/C15623773 (Page 179) - but his actual record from MoD will give you much richer information .

Our POW DB , which is based on National Archives Data - does not list him as a POW.
I just checked the original sources WO392/18 - Air Force POWs in Germany and WO392/20 POWs in Italy and AIR20/2336 and could not find a record for him ..
In addition to whatever info members may offer - you should also try https://www.gov.uk/guidance/request-...vice-personnel and get a copy of his actual record sheet.

It's useful to understand that the number i have is a Pre commissioning airman number from AIR78 index. Much obliged for this info.
I can get his Death Cert copy and think i'll be aided by his unusual middle name and DOB.
I recall i did find a National Archives Data metadata ref to his name in a doc written in German but this won't be released until 2024.

I couldn't find anything in the LG, nor in the Air Force Lists of mid 43 and mid 44. Regards, Terry

i took that he was commissioned P/O only from a search on another site. think this would be an error. Not P/O in fact i have found a pic of him this morning in my Dad's papers with him wearing sgt stripes!
I will definitely be able to get his full records now with some confidence from the MOD.

That's him for sure.
Think the Richard Brown most likely to be his brother. Not his father as he was Henry F Brown.
Postwar he became a professional photographer in Welwyn Garden City, Herts, England
Peter C Brown Photographers ltd.
He took the pictures for my sisters wedding in 1982. Sadly he died the next year.

I hope to make a short biography of my uncle for my family. Being able to flesh out his service record is amazing.
I wish i'd had the opportunity to speak to him now, as an adult ,about his service days. Sadly he passed in 1983 suddenly. What a brave man , part of 'The Greatest Generation ' indeed
