A/P/O William Dycer Coppinger (Age 22) Whilst flying in a Hawker Audax (K3072) he was involved in mid-air collision over Peterborough with a Hawker Hart of No 7 FTS. Both pilot were killed. Burial location NK but the deceased originated from Alberta, Canada

Serving with No 11 FTS RAF Wittering

The other aircraft involved was Hawker Hart (K3128) The Pilot of this aircraft was A/P/O P.J.S. Shaughnessy (burial location NK) He was serving with No 7FTS, RAF Peterborough

The accident occurred when one of the two aircraft hit the tail of the other, whilst they were trying to fly in formation

"First registered [C of R 6688] on 4.2.36 as G-AEBS to Squadron Leader Charles Robert Davidson, MC [who also built this particular Flying Flea]. No C of A issued.

Written off (destroyed) 21.5.39: Davidson was killed at RAF Digby, Scopwick Heath, Lincolnshire, when he crashed in the Mignet HM.14 "Flying Flea" aircraft G-AEBS that he had built himself in the air station workshops."

365171 LAC Herbert Stanley Brown - his death certificate is on a family tree on ancestry.co.uk. It records that he died due to a fractured skull, the result of being struck by a revolving propeller of a service aircraft whilst on duty at 11 Flying Training School, RAF Wittering. He was buried in Devon.
The inquest into the accident was reported in the Western Morning Times of February 27th 1936, which gives his home address as 4, Westbourne Road, Peverall, Plymouth. He had been in the R.A.F. since a boy, and was a fitter, training to become an air gunner. The accident occurred at approximately 1.50 p.m., and Brown was adjusting his gauntlets before a flight, bent down to pick up his parachute, and walked forward in a bending position towards the aircraft when he was struck by the propeller, seemingly preoccupied with his gauntlets and parachute.

I came across this report from The Times, June 16th 1936:

R.A.F. Crash in the Sudan
Four Lives Lost
The Air Ministry announced that two R.A.F. Officers and two other ranks were killed on Sunday [June 14th] when an aeroplane - apparently a twin engined troop-carrier - crashed in the Sudan.
The disaster occurred 25 miles south-east of Adarama (on the River Atbara). The names of the dead are:-
Squadron Leader William Catchpole, A.F.C.
Flight Lieutenant Robert Todd
335665 Sergeant Ernest Alfred Whetter, and
565183 Aircraftman William Marlow.
Our Cairo Correspondent telegraphs:-
The aeroplane crashed while taking a relief party to another machine which had made a forced landing in the desert. A ground party, which was following, found the wreckage of Squadron Leader Catchpole's machine.
Squadron Leader Catchpole, who was promoted to that rank last January, began his service as a boy artificer in the Navy in 1909 and was commissioned in the Royal Naval Air Service in April, 1917. He served with naval airships at Pembroke and East Fortune, and in November, 1918, was awarded the Air Force Cross for valuable flying services. He served in India in 1921-1925, and for two years before his promotion to squadron leader had been on administrative duties at Cranwell. He leaves a widow and two children.
Flight Lieutenant Todd was formerly stationed at Bircham Newton with No.1 (Bomber) Group. He was posted for engineering duties.
This is the third R.A.F. accident this year involving the loss of lives. The first was on April 16, when a machine crashed into a hangar at Peterborough, and the second on May 23, when two aeroplanes collided over the Straits of Malacca, near Singapore.
