We are pleased to tell you that, in consultation with the Ministry of Defence, it has been decided that these records can now be made available in full to the public at The National Archives, Kew.
The records will be opened by 20 December 2022.
A whole bunch will be opened automatically 1st Jan 2023 - I will then look at what else is long tail - I hope to get at least all main files open automatically by 2029 eventually - Some extracts of files will probably remain closed until original dates but main file is open

Is it possible to make an estimate, what files will be opened automatically and how many will be left? Is it by the rule of 100 yrs since birth? Is there a list of casualty packs available?Quote:

after 1st Jan 2023 - 82 files will remain closed - another batch of around 20 open Jan 2024 and then it is a few each year until about 2035 - some of the part ones are still lates 21st century but all the main parent file will be open
non ops losses and ops losses are in the Air 81 files if a casualty
