    Default T.T.O. Lost on Martinet MS721 - 4 O.T.U. 03.05.44

    Hello All,

Can anyone confirm the name of the T.T.O. lost on board Martinet MS721 of No.4 O.T.U. on the 3rd May 1944 ditching 8 miles East of Cromarty. I have the pilot as being Warrant Officer HOLT, Roy Geoffrey (745893) but any help in confirming the T.T.O would be appreciated.

    Kind regards,

    Tim

    Default Martinet 3 May 1944

The 4(C)OTU ORB (AIR 29/610) does not provide the name of either crew member. It does say that the drogue operator's body was picked by by the ASR boat.

    Hi Tim

Of those on Dennis's list the only possibles are: -

    JONES, MEURIG AC1 1475842
    MYERS, WILLIAM LAC 1131479
    STORIE, JAMES MIDDLEMAS AC1 947495
    TANSLEY, HARRY ALBERT AC2 2245481

The rest belong to other units, but I have found units for the above, all whom are buried in the UK, the others are all from overseas units

    Hi,
I have William Myers on MS721 as the death certificate gives the place of death as the Cromarty Firth on the 3/5/44.

    Keith / Alan / Malcolm / Dennis,

Many thanks for your replies it would appear that William Myers is our man and this has been added to the file as is the ORB reference to the ASR boat.

Your assistance is, as always, greatly appreciated.

    Kind regards,

    Tim
