    Default 239 Squadron - Mustangs - 14 August 1942

On 14 Aug 1942 239 Squadron lost Mustangs AG472 and AG524 on a Rhubarb mission to the Blankenberge-Brugge area of Belgium.

P/O R. Pullin was taken prisoner after his a/c had crashed at/near Wissekerke in Zeeland Province, the Netherlands.

F/Lt C. Oakes was killed and is now buried at Oostende, Belgium.
Did his a/c come down at/near that town?

Also confirmation needed that Pullin flew AG524.

    Thanks for the info.

    Leendert,
I've on file that P/O Pullin was on AG524 and crashed near Wissekerke 12.39h after being hit by Kriegsmarineflak. F/Lt Oakes, flying AG472, crashed into the North Sea 4 km W of Oostende and his body was found washed ashore near Bredene.
