Default 1046560 George Murphy, RAFVR Aircraftman 1st class. Died 18th January 1944.

I am researching on behalf of a local history group several RAF and RAFVR service men who are buried in Commonwealth War Graves in Agecroft Cemetery Manchester. I already have the information provided by the Commonwealth War Graves Commission. I have made a seperate post for each person.

I am looking for information for the following person, details and reason for death, service records, any other information you may feel would be of interest.

1046560 George Murphy, RAFVR Aircraftman 1st class.
    Died 18th January 1944. Age 32.

Death registration is likely to be Salford.

    Kind regards,
    Sue.

Yr man took the King's Shilling in Sep 39 at Padgate. Death Reg (1944 and only as an AC1) seems to indicate he spent his entire War Service in that area.
I have to tell you, in strictest confidence, that Padgate (amongst the early-50's National Service intakes) was NOT regarded as the most salubrious of Square-Bashing establishments!!

    Same comment as Southern,
    965000 to 1149977 Sep 1939 Padgate

184,977 serial numbers in that batch, 81560 up to our man here, not likely to have been all taken in in one single month.

if you could find him manually in the Flight magazine casualty lists Susan I imagine you will find he is DOAS, natural causes possibly.

    Dennis,
Couldn't find him in the Flight Global List 1-1-1944 - 26-5-1944.

    Default George Murphy

    thanks for the replies,

I agree it is likely this man died of illness as the registration of death is in the same area to where he was living.

    Kind regards,
    Sue.
