    Default Maryland AR729

    Hi guys

On 15 July 1941, Maryland AR729 with an all-Australian crew (Sgts Lee, Simpson and Neill) FTR from a recce over the eastern Tunisian coast.

Does anyone know the cause of the loss?

    Cheers
    Brian

Are their records on the Australian national Archives able to give an clue? Are they digitised.

    Hi,

I've had a quick look through Simpsons records, 102 pages, which are digitised.

They took off from Malta in the afternoon for a photo recce flight to Tripoli and the road to Sirte. They failed to return and are presumed missing.

Not much to go on but maybe someone has details of any Luftwaffe or Italian claims in this area for 15 July 1941.
