Default Pat Rooney. RAF CARICATURE ARTIST???

Does anyone have any information on Pat Rooney.
I have seen a couple of chalk caricatures of WWII RAF personnel drawn by this man. See a picture by him at ...... http://www.coastalcommand206.com/page27.htm
Was he in the RAF or did he have any connection with the RAF eg commissioned to draw portraits?
I've looked on the internet but find very little information about him.... so real or fake ?

I have two Pat Rooneys, one of my father in 1949 at RAF Mountbatten, and one of my maternal grandfather, done in 1943 when he was an RAF AI boffin. I tried to find somethig about him on the Web a few years ago, but turned up Zilch. If anyone knows anything about him I would like to know. I might try Pprune to see if anyone knows on there. (Or do I get excommunicated for mentioning another forum?)

    Default Rooney

    Hi,
I knew several airmen that had pictures drawn by Pat Rooney. They told me that he was a commercial artist that would turn up and complete sketches and charge a small amount for them.
I know that Arthur piper was drawn at least twice at different times.
I don't believe that he was ever attached to the RAF in an Official capacity like Orde.
Not much to go on but it is all I know.

    Default Another Rooney searcher

I have two caricatures of my father, an officer in the Fleet Air Arm attached to RAF Kirkham at the end of the war and after. Would love to know more - he appears to have been one of the most prolific artists of his day.
