Default Bomber command operations 15th and 26th April 1941 - help requested

    Hi,
I am trying to decipher an Air Gunners logbook that I have, the aircrewman 915460 AC2 D Stoneham completed his AG course in Jan 1941, he has 1 page filled out in pencil in his logbook, there are 2 "operations as ordered" in the duty area:-
15.4.41 Wellington L5887 pilot P/O Stanley total hours 6.35 (night)
26.4.42 Wellington L6039 pilot P/O Stanley total hours 6.15 (night)

No target or squadrons are mentioned. Can anybody help with a squadron or targets?
    Cheers,
    Rick

    Hello,

From Air-Britain's L1000-N9999, L5858 to L5887 is a batch of Bristol Bombay which was cancelled.

L6039 is a Hereford I. No unit given, to 2713M (airframe used mostly for instructional duties) on 5 October 1941.

    Dear Rick
Middlebrook : The Bomber Command War Diaries has Kiel as the target for 96 aircraft on 15/16 April 1941. Of these 49 were Wellingtons. He does not give squadron numbers

No Wellingtons are listed as bing in the daylight coastal operations on the 15th.

Ditto No Wellingtons are listed as bing in the daylight coastal operations on the 26th.

26/27 Apr 1941 22 Wellingtons went to Hamburg
26/27 Apr 1941 4 Wellingtons went to Emden
    Sorry no squadrons listed

I hope this may give you a start
    Happy hunting

    Dear Rick
If you google RAF Harwell there is confirmation of Wellingtons on Wikipedia. There is also a conversation on
http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php?PHPSESSID=9kstgpb177sbilnk40j4j5j7c6&top ic=472505.0 which lists a variety of squadrons at different times.
    You could always e-mail Hendon
    Happy hunting

    Hello,

The "Ops" mentioned, from their description and duration, sound like fuel consumption tests to me.
