    Default 253 Squadron - 21 May 1940

Can anyone help me with any information with regards to the death of
F/O Desmond Gower (40905) K.I.A. flying over France on 21 May 1940, please?

He's buried in France but I know very little else.

    Thank you.

Shot down, probably by BF110C of ll/ZG76 and crashed near Etaples (12 Days in May Cull/Lander/Weiss) Confirmed by The B of France THen & Now (Cornwell) although has him in 229 Sq.

    Gents,
I've him "229 Sqn" surviving a Hurricane crash 18.5.40; possibly in Belgium (serial P2676), and
"253 Sqn" killed on Hurricane P3546 of 253 Sqn. (Franks' Fighter Command Losses - Vol.1, 1st edition, pages 25 and 29). Any corrections welcome.
    Regards,
    Henk.

    Thanks for the replies.

It is interesting that The CWGC has him listed as 253 Sqn and you both have 229 Sqn.
