Default Fg Off John Lowrey Clifton RAFVR - 157 Sqn

    Dear all,

The above named officer was killed on 26 Feb 1944. He is listed as being a pilot with the Mosquito equipped 157 Sqn. I believe that he was killed when his a/c stalled on approach to Predannack Airfield in Cornwall, but this is not confirmed. I also believe his Nav's life was saved by the joint efforts of the Stn MO and NCO i/c Fire Section (I have the joint citation for the award of an OBE and BEM respectively). Unfortunately that is all I have. No a/c details or the name of the Nav etc. Can anyone fill in any of the blanks for me please?

    Thanks in advance

    Jonny

You will find quite a bit of detail and photos of the burning aircraft in the medal sales catalogue:
