    Default 1661 HCU at Winthorpe

I am trying to find out more about the "standard" training schedules that aircrews undertook when converting to fly Lancasters, especially at 1661 HCU, Winthorpe

Was there a standard sylabus/routine that crews worked to, or did it depend on the individual skills/backgrounds of the airmen?

I have read that (in 1943) it was a 6 week course, half of which was spent on Manchester training and the other half on Lancasters.

Any further info would be very much appreciated!

My father spent 4 weeks on Sterlings at Winthorpe after completing 31 ops with 12 Squadron at Wickenby.

From Winthorpe he went to LFS Syerston for one week before his second tour of 20 Ops with 463 at Waddington.
