    Default 452 raaf sqd andreas isle of man

    452 RAAF SQD were based at Andreas Isle of man March to June 1942 , On the 8th MAY 1942 SPITFIRE'S VB
    BL351 was involved in a AIR Collision with SPITFIRE AB244 , Both A/C from 452. FLYING BL351 ,Was 403332 SGT R A GOODHEW , Who was killed in the incident , BL 351 is said to have crashed on the AIRFEILD , but AB 244 crashed at
    FARRANTS FORT FARM ,ST JUDES ,ANDREAS,Please can anyone confirm these details and can anyone also confirm the pilot of AB244 , and was he killed ??
    i looked at the ANA and the unit diary but there is no mention of the incident but GOODHEW arrived at 452 on 26/3/42 from 53 OTU at LLANDOW and is buried at andreas , thanking anyone who may be able to help .
    I thought someone may have the info i need before getting the RAAF ACCIDENT REPORT

    Phill,

    there is quite a write up of of this accident in Steve Poole's 'Rough Landing or Fatal Flight', the pilot of AB244 is named as WH Ford who was unhurt. If you would care to PM me with your Email address I will scan the relevant bit for you.

    The pilot of AB244 was in fact, AUS401429 P/O William Hendrie FORD RAAF. For his eventual fate, see:
