Great find Dennis. That clears up that little mystery.

AIR81 to the rescue once again
AIR81/9055 Pilot Officer R O H Down, Flight Lieutenant R T R Cowper, Sergeant G W Barrowman, Sergeant R T Peat: prisoners of war; aircraft force landed near St Malo, France, Hudson AM548, 233 Squadron, 14 September 1941.
Strangely, I was looking at Cowper's 1945 application to stay in Australia in late 1945, and its a specific scheme for former British Armed Service members. He signed it at Parafield on Oct 28th 1945. I noted that 300 Group had been there and sure enough he was posted into 238 Sqn (Dakota's) on Oct 23rd from HQ 300 Group.
I don't suppose any one had any call to get a copy of AIR81/9055 above? I thought it strange that a man who was, and I assume only, a POW until May or June 1945, to head back into active service so quick.
Great find Dennis. That clears up that little mystery.
Regards,
Martin.

Hi Bertrand,
Yes, these photos certainly help with this loss.
Many thanks,
Martin.
If only they took selfies back then with the crew I'd be sorted. Can't seem to find relatives or photo of Cowper. Good find and so clear.
