Default Sgt. Jens Ipsen at 1 PDC, West Kirby, 1943

I am researching Danish WW2 pilots. Researching Sgt. Jens Ipsen, cf.
    http://danishww2pilots.dk/profiles.php?id=43

I discovered yesterday from the 234 ORB that he was posted to No. 1 PDC, West Kirby, on 4 Jan 1943 for overseas duty. I have not been able to trace units etc. following this date, but different sources mentions him participating in the defence of Malta.

From the NA website I can see, at AIR 29/480 covers No. 1 PDC. Is anyone aware of the character of information from this source? Would the records hold lists of servicemen posted to the unit and information on their further posting?

    Default Sgt Jens Ipsen

    Hello Mikkel,

    Doing a google research by typing the following "sgt jens ipsen" provide some sites where the name appears;

for example (you may know it )

    www. spitfires.dk/Chaper6

Jens Ipsen was with the French Foreign Legion before the war.
Survived the war and return to DK, served with Danish Navy's Air Corps and retired in 1955

Being an active member of the DK forces after the war , the MOD may have an historical branch where info could be obtain.

    Best regards

    René

    Hi Mikkel,

I don't know if it's of any interest, but W/O Ipsen took part in an attack on German barracks here in Holland at 26th November 1944 while on duty with 33 Squadron. I've only one fragment of the ORB, so I cannot check when he was posted in or out.

BTW, do you perhaps know his service number?

Thank you. This is new to me, so yes very interesting. Until then, I had lost track of him in Sept 1943.

I only have the 33 Sqn ORB for 1943.

I do not have his service number.
