    Default Unaccounted airmen - 18-8-1940

Following airmen may all have been killed in an air raid on their aerodrome. Looking for the place of death registration. Luftwaffe attacked Biggin Hill, Kenley (12 dead), Ford and Thorney (6 dead).

    LAC Thomas H. LOVETT - 238427
    AC2 George H. MALIVOIRE - 1255418
    AC1 Sydney T. PHILBRICK - 628255
Cpl Henry D. STARK - 563787 (probably killed on Ford)
    AC1 Francis H. TURRELL - 950387
    AC2 Claude M. YORKE - 963688

Already on file being killed in air raid on Ford:
    AC1 Jack G. MOVERLEY - 547322

Already on file being killed in air raid on Kenley:
    F/Lt Robert S. CROMIE - 90485
    AC1 Leslie B. HARRIS - 976057 - 64 Sqn
    LAC Thomas HOLROYD - 617220 - 615 Sqn
    AC1 Roy TAPNER - 904596 - 64 Sqn.

Have already info on six FAA-airmen killed in air raid on Ford (HMS Peregrine).

Regards and thanks for your help.

    Hi Henk
Thomas Lovett, age 40 registered at Bromley(? Biggin Hill),
Malivoire,26,Turrell 24,and Yorke 19 are all registered at Surrey SE, which seems to cover Kenley. Henry Starck,28, is registered at Chichester ? died of injuries from Tangmere, and Sydney Philbrick,23, is registered at Thanet which is the Office that covers Manston and that corner of Kent.
    Regards
    Dick

    Hi Henk
I have looked up Moverley and he is registered at Chichester, which could mean that Henry Starck could have died in the same place, and you have Moverley at Ford.

Thanks Amrit and Dick for your help.

MOVERLEY and Aerodrome Ford (HMS Peregrine) came from http://www.naval-history.net/xDKCas1003-Intro.htm

    One more question to confirm:

What was the place of death registration for:
    F/Lt Robert S. CROMIE - 90485.

    Regards,
    Henk.

    Hi Henk
Cromie was registered at Surrey S E, which would be right for Kenley.

Cromie was killed at Kenley (see The Hardest Day by Alfred Price) and 'well-loved local doctor' who had joined RAF shortly before. He was Station doctor ad 9 soldiers and airman were killed in total with ten injured

PS. 'One soldier killed at Croydon airfield'
