    Default Casualties 19 August

    Hi Henk

According to Michael Bowyer's book AIR RAID, four men were killed during a raid on RAF Coltishall at 1415 on 19 August, and a further 25 injured. He goes on to say that RAF Honington was raided at 1615 by a single He111, when the barracks square was hit, but no mention of casualties. It would seem that he has the casualties noted at the wrong station.

    Cheers
    Brian

    Both L.A/C. J E Parish, 917250 and A/C.2 C. P. Williams, 117159; listed as KOAS in Casualty Communique 45 in Flight, September 19, 1940.

In same listing is LA/C. S. Worral, 530243 shown as ‘Died of wounds on injuries received on active service’.

    Hi all,

I would like to re-open this Henk's old thread regarding losses caused by German air raid on Honington.
According to a diary of 311 Sq based at Honington at the time "the exact number of casualties is not known, we have heard something between 5 and 10". With help of this thread I was able to find out following six casualties:

    Aircraftman 2nd Class
    DUDLEY, GEORGE WILLIAM LESLIE
    Service Number 1182877
    Died 19/08/1940
    Aged 20
    9 Sqdn.

    Aircraftman 2nd Class
    LARKIN, FREDERICK LEONARD
    Service Number 906240
    Died 19/08/1940
    Aged 23
    9 Sqdn.

    Aircraftman 2nd Class
    HOLDAWAY, FRANK ALAN CRAWFORD
    Service Number 1173749
    Died 19/08/1940
    Aged 25
    9 Sqdn.

    Aircraftman 2nd Class
    WILLIAMS, CYRIL PEARSON
    Service Number 1171590
    Died 19/08/1940
    Aged 26

    Aircraftman 2nd Class
    JONES, RICHARD GLYNNE
    Service Number 1171578
    Died 19/08/1940
    Aged 25

    Leading Aircraftman
    PARISH, JOHN EDWARD
    Service Number 917250
    Died 19/08/1940
    Aged 27

Anyone has any fresh information on this topic and can confirm/update this list please?

    TIA
