Default Young man, You'll never die by Merton Nayder

The above book details the RAF service of, I presume, the author. The cover illustration shows what is apparently a GO coded Hurricane of 94 squadron.
I do not record Merton Nayder with 94 squadron, unless an alias.

Can anyone with this book confirm the squadrons covered in this work.

    TIA

    Regards,

    Ian

    Default Merton Naydler

Well, not much, but I have a note saying there was a Merton Naydler in 11 Sq. That's all. Note the spelling!

Casemate Publishing has this on their webpage about the book (http://www.casematepublishing.com/title.php?isbn=9781844153381):

"Merton Naydler joined the RAF at the age of nineteen and served for the next six years until May 1946. He flew Spitfires and Hurricanes during a tour of duty that took him to North Africa, Burma and Malaya"

    John Engelsted

PS. There was a W/O Naydler in 9 Sq. RIAF in July 1944.

Thanks for the info John, correct spelling noted - my spelling came from the "Aeroplane" mag advert, but a closer look at the book cover does show Naydler.

I've just found out that the RAF Museum at Hendon holds his logbook. I am going there in June, and will take photos of it. If you care for a copy, just PM me.

John, I would be interested to see if this is the same Naydler who served with 9 RIAF Squadron. So if you are going to refer to his logbook , please do confirm if this is the same gent.

I seemed to have acquired photos, paper clippings & family photos of the said gentleman. I don't remember where I acquired these items but it must have been some years ago. I can email the scans if anyone is interested.

    Hello Mark,

As I originated this post then certainly yes please to your kind offer to send scans of the material you have.

It will be interesting to see if these contain any clues to his possible connection to 94 squadron.

If you left click on ian94avenge you will find a link to my email address.

    Many thanks

    Ian
