    Default RAF National Service Records

    Ronald William Burridge

I have now embarked on locating my relatives using familytree.
All I have is a photo of my fathers unit and thats all.
I am having problems in finding my Fathers time whilst doing his NS in the RAF during 1946? to 52?.
Can anybody advice me where I can obtain information concerning ground crew, Lancaster's bases that where in used at that time, any information would be extremely appreciated.

    Johntech, welcome to the Forum,
You will need to obtain a copy of your father's RAF Form 543R. As immediate NoK you should be allowed access to this document (you may have to prove you are immediate NoK - and it might cost you 30!!). Start off with:
    RAF Disclosures Section
    Room 221b
    Trenchard Hall
    RAF Cranwell
    Sleaford
    LINCS
    NG34 8HB

The F543R will give your father's NS history. It won't be total. Mine only gives the Stations/Units that I was formally Posted to. It does not record all the various detachments. When you get the copy it will be full of jargon, acronyms, etc. There are many experts on this Forum who will be able to decode them! - and the Units!

    John,

Further to Peter's post go to http://www.veterans-uk.info/service_records/raf.html for details as how to apply for your father's service record. About halfway down the page you will find a link to the Certificate of kinship for,.
