Needn't bother actually, not clear who he might be in the AAD database. is it deffinetly a letter U? Very distinct first name in that case, Ulesses or soemthign like that?

Is there any serial number given?

    Hello Dennis,

No serial number given just U.S.A. where service number should be recorded. The card is fairly clear and it would certainly appear to be a U.

    Kind regards,

    Tim

    Default P/O V.E. Samuelson (J/20182)

    Hi Tim,

Not sure if this helps or not. I have a P/O Vernon Elliot Samuelson (J/20182) who was part of Course No.6 (Pilots) at No.34 OTU, Pennfield Ridge, New Brunswick (Canada) (9 November 1942-12 February 1943). This airmen later returned to US forces 10 June 1943 and was eventually posted to 180 Squadron with his crew (Leister, Gibson & Gonsales).

    Regards,
    Christian

I think looking at that crash card Tim, compare the U on the USA with his first initial, I think that firt initial may well be a rounded V rather than a U, note the way the writer placed the trailing arm on the U in USA. Also his U in OTU is clearly a U, with the tail or pen stroke.
