    Default 619 Sq. Lancaster DV335 26/29 November 1944

This aircraft crashed close to Elvington airfield, diverted after a raid on Berlin. The crew were unhurt (not to be confused with DV336 which also crashed near Elvington with the loss of the Mears crew). There is nothing in Chorley and I have the information from 'Lancaster - The Story of a Famous Bomber'. Does anyone have a full crew list and any detail as to where it crashed.

    Hi John,
Is there a possibility that the "Lancaster-The Story of a Famous Bomber" author has got it wrong. The Berlin raid on which DV336 was lost, was on 26/27th Nov 43, not 44.

The Lancaster File (Air Britain) has DV336 FTR from Berlin on 27/11/43 and crashing at Elvington. DV335 was SOC 15/1/47 so if it had crashed or had been involved in an accident some time earlier, it must have been able to be repaired and would not necessarily have been recorded in Bill Chorley's books.

    Best wishes

Sorry my typo 1943 not 1944. Lancaster File is wrong as I have been sent a copy of the page from the air gunner's logbook which concurs with 'Story of a Famous Bomber'. Just wondered if anyone had 619's ORB.
