I am plodding through loads of documents and something in AIR 2/7971 raised a question.
In 1948 it was stated that practice air to air firing against drogues cannot be done with the Gyro gunsight and required winged targets for this type of gunsight.

Anyone know why this is the case as I am not familiar with the requirements of gunsights? I would have thought this would have been a problem during WW2 but I have found no mention of this - yet.
