    Default Loss Martinet NR466 2 A.P.S. Spilsby 23.01.46

    Hello All,

I am trying to confirm the name of the T.T.O. lost on board NR466 of No.2 APS. The aircraft came down 800yds from the airfield at Spilsby following a collision with MS723. The two names I have are Aircraftsman 2nd Class MADDISON, Thomas (1596066) or Leading Aircraftman PEAKE, Thomas (1093063). The pilot is confirmed as Warrant Officer WHITLING, Harry Victor (656628).

    Any assistance would be appreciated.

    Kind regards,

    Tim

Your second person appears to be Warrant Officer Robert Clarke 1523869, listed as an Air Gunner by the CWGC. The two ACs' deaths were registered in different areas to Whitling's. He was registered in the Spilsby district as is Robert Clark.

    Hello

1523869 Robert Clarke was from West Auckland in County Durham, and according to the database on here had been a P.o.W. after Halifax LL183 was shot down in May 1944:
