    Default Wellington LA993 Cr. St. Kilda, Scotland. 23 February 1943

    Greetings,

    Can anyone tell me the trades of the following airmen who were lost on the 23 February on the isle of St.Kilda , Outer Hebrides,Scotland. in Wellington LA993 of 303 FTU please.

    Sgt. William Day. 1378796 RAF(VR)..
    Sgt. Ralph Spencer. 1215504 RAF(VR)
    Sgt. George Bowman Stewart. 1332286 RAF(VR)
    Sgt.George Wilfred Turnley. 1204149 RAF(VR).

    I do have the trades of the following from that crew.
    Sgt.William Victor Charles Alson. 1267971 RAF(VR) Air Gunner.
    Flt/Sgt.Vincent Harold Knutson. R/98799 RCAF Navigator.

    Hi Arthur

    I can't help with crew positions, but I think the aircraftshould be LA995, LA993 was lost in the Middle East according to A-B

    I think this crash was one of a few written up in a photo article in "After the Battle" magazine some years back. I thought I'd ention it just in case it helps.

    I have been having quite a chase to find this mystery Wellington, the only one of three aircraft that crashed on St. Kilda Achipeligo that didn't have an identity on the plaque on the island.
