"Unsung Heroes" (The Far East Prisoners of War) by Les and Pam Stubbs has on page 108 for CROPPER: Held "Java".

Hello Henk,
I believe "Unsung Heroes", is incorrect in placing Cropper in Java. You will notice Cropper's unit is not identified, nor is he mentioned on the "Java Index" (compiled by Anthea Beckett):

Cropper was repatriated ex-India, in June 1945.
