This NCO was a member of the crew of Lancaster NG437 of 1653 HCU. The aircraft took off in a tail down attitude and climbed steeply before stalling to port and diving into the ground at RAF North Luffenham. It seems probable that the aircraft was incorrectly trimmed and the pilot was unable to correct this before loss of control. This was the pilot's first solo on type.

    The crew was:
    W/O Reginald Thomas NUTTING
    Sgt Anthony Fredrick Barnard BLAIKLEY
    Sgt Anthony BONE
    F/Sgt Frank Keighley DEXTER
    F/Sgt Alexander John ROSSITER
    F/Sgt Alfred Albert Willis THOMAS
    Sgt Thomas Edward VALLER

    Hope this helps.
