Default Luftwaffe fighter pilot victory cups

I've just seen one of these on ebay - I find them quite intriguing. Does anyone have any more information on them? The one I saw only has a date - no other details such as the pilots name etc. Is this normal?

    Hello,

On the photo representing a cup appears the name of the pilot, the date and the type of aircraft.
    "Oblt Telge, 40701943, Lancaster.

    Default

    Thanks Rene

I dont know how it worked - were these cups paid for by pilots or were they awarded by their units. If one was awarded for every kill there must be thousands in circulation.

    Default Oblt Telge

    Hello ,

Oblt Telge shot down two Lancasters , ED820 from N° 12 sqdn and W-5012 from N° 103 sqdn , during the night of 3/4/07/1943 over Belgium.

    Hello,

Yes, Oblt Telge has claimed 2 Lancaster on that night and he indeed received 2 cups. At that time he was with NGJ1.
I do not know if other unit also provide with cups.

    Best regards
    René
