    Default Unaccountd airmen - 23-8-1940

    What caused the death of:

LAC David E. DOUGLAS - 571664 - 61 Sqn (Hemswell, Lincolnshire) - name not found in Flight archives, and

AC1 James W. WATSON - 168771 - died of wounds or injuries received on active service.

Proposed aircraft serials in case killed in an air crash:

    Master I - N7500 - 3 FPP - abandoned 4 miles NE of Dalmellington, Ayrshire

Douglas was killed during the black-out in August 1940 after hitting a parked car on his motorcycle on his way back to his station.

    Hi Henk
Not sure whether this helps but I found a James W Watson ,30 with death registered in Marylebone which is in Central London. ?Air raid victim or Balloon Accident.Douglas,19, is registered at Gainsborough,Lincolnshire which would tie in with what Amrit found if he was getting back to Hemswell
    Regards

Henk, I'm rather late on a reply on this one. Apologies.

An AC1 J W Watson 169771 was killed in a "raid" on Bridlington on 23rd August 1940. He was at home with his wife at 13 Prince St, Bridlington and both were killed.

If you look up his wife Dorothy Grace Watson on CWGC, this confirms.

    regards Rich
