    Hi Col:
Not quite what you were asking but AE881 was delivered to Prestwick on June 24, 1942, while AE948 was delivered on June 17.

    Col,
    I've for AE881: 1575 Flt - Blida, Algeria.
    F/Lt Cyril D. BOOTHBY - DFC, DFM - 126120 - Malta Mem. - P6 - C1. (CWGC: 624 Sqn).
However, also have a note that 624 Sqn wasn't formed out of 1575 Flt and a part of 148 Sqn earlier than 22-9-1943.
    Regards,
    Henk.

    Col,

Boothby was indeed with 1575 Flight, as Henk notes. I have 7/8 September 1943. Took off Protville, 2115 for special duties over Italy but FTR. No further details.

Crew, all commemorated on the Malta Memorial, were:

    F/Lt C D Boothby DFC DFM
    F/O D B Pope
    F/Sgt W H Lowe
    W/O L Williams

    Henk/David,

    My thoughts precisely:

    http://www.rafcommands.com/forum/showthread.php?11049-S-Ldr-Boothby-1944

This helps clear up a "Fine Mess". Flights of the Forgotten/Merrick p.172, seems to be one of the few to get it right.

    Thanks Gents,

    Col.
