    Hello,

Does anybody know if exist an Operational Record Book (ORB) for FAA Squadrons for WW2 operations? If so, where they are available?

    Thanks in advance

    Hallo Phil,

More ORBs for FAA squadrons exist than one might at first expect. If you search the online catalogue at The National Archives at Kew you will find at least 55 covering dates within the 1939-45 period, plus some more for the postwar era. Look in the ADM 207 series.

I don't know if the FAA Museum/Archive at Yeovilton have any.

    Regards,

    Martin Gleeson.

I have had a look at some of the files in ADM207, they are mroe like a diary than an ORB with some good general entries about life on an active squadron and some very comical entries.

They are in a manuscript book or ring binder.

If you are after details of accidents suffered than they are short on that sort of detail, at best you might get a 'Jimmy bought it RIP' entry.

I would say they are still worth looking at though

Phil, give the FAA museum a call and ask them if they have any records for the units your interested in. I gave them a call a while ago and spent twenty minutes on the phone with a very helpful lady who talked me through what they hold. Unfortunately for me they did not have anything i wanted! But that was for a training unit in Shropshire.
