Default 40 Squadron Casualty Sgt Mackenzie 11/11/44

Hello , I would be grateful for any info on circumstances of the death or previous Ops of Sgt (Air Gunner) James M. MacKenzie

on 11/11/44 of 40 sqn. He rests in Bari Cemetery Italy.

I have e mailed the AHB who have been most helpful in the past.

I thought about buying the book on the history of 40 sqn but seems to retail for over 150 - obviously sought after.

    regards Bob

    I have David Gunby's "Sweeping the Skies" : A History of 40 Squadron RFC & RAF 1916-56

Flt/Sgt JP Baker is mentioned on P276 , probably because he was the pilot but Sgt James M MacKenzie isn't in the index. [There is a Lt. K MacKenzie -WW1]

    Hello,

    See: http://www.rafcommands.com/forum/showthread.php?9393-40-Squadron-1942-1944

Henk kindly corrected the serial. The book quotes Wellington LN511, it should read LP511.

Anne, see p.395. It states that the appendices and illustrations are not indexed.

Many thanks Anne - saved me hunting the book down through the library - the link to Roger's was most helpful.

Being new to this I don't seem to be able to set up e mail notification of new posts ?

    thanks Bob

Hopefully one of the more computer savvy members will let you know how to receive emails when someone replies on your post /thread .I get them but don't know how ? Go to one's profile then settings, perhaps?

Let me know if you want anything looked up in David Gunby's book.

Thanks Anne - my next step I guess is to try and get the ORB's for 40 squadron to see what other missions Sgt Mackenzie flew on.

I had a look at my settings but I fall in the catagory of numpty :)

I can't even seem to search without it going to 'cannot display web page'

    cheers Bob

I'd also like to know how one can arrange to get an email notification of a reply , even though I do get them.
Another member may help but you can try sending a private message to moderator Ross McNeill.
Click on his name eg at top of main category, new threads/ post and then view his profile.
