    This airman from Glasgow was lost on 6 June 1942. Can anybody furnish details on his squadron/unit and what happened to him?

    The CWGC knows Samuel Hunter, RAFVR 1070098, 06/06/1942, no unit mentioned.

    Hello Malcolm,
    656486 Was the svcnr for Sgt (Pilot) Horatio H. MORRIS of 5 OTU who crashed into sea 6-6-1942 on a navex with Beaufort II serial AW306. His body was found washed ashore 25-6-1942 near Barra. Also missing in this accident:
    Sgt Samuel HUNTER - 1070098 - Runnymede Panel 86
    Sgt Donald ('Smitch') SMITH - 640693 - Runnymede Panel 93.
    Info via the internet (no known source):
    The family of Sgt Smith was notified that the pilot of his aircraft 'survived' after they came down in the sea and came ashore at Baleshare, a tidal island now linked by a causeway to the island North Uist.
