    Default More information?

    Hello to all,

Sgt. Arthur W. Radley was my great uncle and I believe was piloting this Wellington on it's last fateful mission. My family has recently come into possession of personal letters that were written whilst serving with 40 Squadron and we would be grateful if anyone here would be willing to share any more information about this crew and their experiences leading up to 17/07/44?

I look forward to hearing any responses.

    All the best

    Steve Cox

    Hi Steve

I placed the original request on behalf of a friend whose wife is a relative of James Macgee, I will be seeing him later this week or early next week and will see if she would like to make contact

As a 40 Squadron historian, with a massive squadron archive of photos and recollections etc, I would be pleased to be put in contact with the relatives of Arthur Radley and James Macgee. All this is of personal interest, of course, as my father's crew operated against Smederevo. Photos of these two men, and of the Radley crew, for instance, would be most welcome, as would access to anything in the letters which was felt by families to be OK to release to someone outside the family.

Sadly, my father's letters to my mother, and to his parents, have not survived.

A personal message giving me email addresses will be smartly responded to.

Hi Steve, I have just found this forun, quite by accident. Arthur willoughby Radley was married to my sister, which made us brothers-in law, I remember when he was killed although I was only 11 at the time. It was him that got me interested in flying, and I always vowed that one day I would fly. unfortunately pilots were not need by the time I was old enough, however I took my private pilots license when I was 39 and flew mself around Eurupe for 5 years. I dont know quite how you are related, but I know that arthur had a sister who had two sons Rex & Dillon. and lived in Worthing. If you or anybody else would like to get in touch, we could exchange information= malcolm powell
