    Hi guys

If N3100 took the tail off P9545, my father's log says "P.O. Short cut my tail off. Bailed out."

    Default P/O Short

Thanks Jane for the confirmation of this name.
The next stage is to try to ID who this pilot was. Certainly not P/O James Alexander Short RAF 745244 of 609 & 152 sqn.
    Thanks for your invaluable help.

P9545 vs N3100: somewhere read the name of Sgt C.L. WOOD - NZ412780 - RNZAF. Could Errol check if he around this period of time was with 58 OTU ?
    Regards,
    Henk.

    Default 58 OTU collision

    Hi Henk,
Thanks for that but Sgt Mel Tushingham (P9545) wrote in his logbook that it was P/O Short, the problem is we do not have any initials.
LG only list P/O H Short, 103989 as a possible canditdate, but there could also have been another pilot from the Dominions.
    Thanks,
    Roy

    Default P/O RF Short

    Hello again,
I believe I have the ID of the pilot of Spitfire Ia,N3100 which collided with P9545 on 58 OTU.
It could be P/O Richard Frederick Short, 69480. who 5 weeks later was with 152 sqn in Londonderry.
He was the second pilot from 152 sqn with this name flying Spitfires.
I hope someone can confirm this please.

    Ian/Roy,
Thanks, I'll amend my files to 58OTU, had a look through my notes and can't find where I got 132 sqn from.

    Thanks again,
    Alan

    Hi Phill,

Thanks for the data on Sgt Wood, his leaving 58 OTU to 164 sqdn on April 14, 42 rules him out.

    Ian / Roy
