    Default Spitfire MK1 K9850

A long shot but worth a try , this Spitfire was RIW AST , 13/11/41, can anyone tell me if these repairs were as a result of a flying accident , A/C was serving with 53 OTU at this time .

    Default 53 otu

    Hello Phill,
This maybe a red herring but I have found that Spitfire I, K9850 on 24-2-41 was with 58 OTU (?) landing at Grangemouth at 1800hrs on a power approach when Sgt AC Jacka 904334 on his first solo on type. The u/c hit a pole in an obstructed field on the drome boundary. The u/c collapsed on landing. Cat C.
Maybe this is not related to your later accident on 13-11-41.

    Default Spitfire K9850

ROY , thank you for that ,this peice of information will come in handy when i get to 58 OTU , my interest is FIGHTER OTU's , i dont think it was attributed to the accident on 13/11/41 , the a/c was with 53 OTU at this time The RAFF 78 STATES the A/ C went to 58 OTU 29/12/40 , The A/C was damaged on the del flt to 53 OTU ont17/7/41 as you stated in an earlier mail to me , it was then written of in a MID AIR COLL 28/3/43 killing both pilots while at 53 OTU ,
    thank you

Have K9850 collided with K9862 killing both pilots: P/O Graham W. BERRY - 137455 and F/O John H. FENTON - 119784, unfortunately don't know who was at the controls of K9850 or K9862. Look out for help.
    Regards,
    Henk.
