    Default S/L Jimmy Hall (Toronto)

S/L 'Jimmy' Hall C1624 (from Toronto) was tour expired in June 1943.

I was told a while back was killed (attached to 443Sqn) on 16th June 1944, on a sweep led by Johnnie Johnson over Argentan. It was a bad show. There were 3 sections of 6 aircraft Johnnie, Wally and Jimmy leading each respectively.

Being older than most, perhaps in his forties, & possibly even a WW1 vet, he had been C.O of 421RCAF Red Indians from 13th Apr-17th Jun 1943, the previous Summer.

Can anyone now positively confirm his services as a few years ago we hadn't got very far?

Johnnie Sherlock said he'd not heard his COs second name being Dickie.
He looks older too than the 27 years given in the line up with 421 in May 1943

I got a second opinion and it seems I was not a good judge of age. Sorry. He was indeed only 28 when he got shot down. He got posted in to 421 on 13th April from 402 Sqn btw. He'd also served previously in 421 in Aug/Sept 1942 if this information helps.

Thanks for the link to RCAF website, that should prove quite useful. For any KIAs of course.
