    Default No.100 Sqn. - Lancaster III W4999 - 29/30-7-1943

On 29/30-7-1943, No.100 Sqn. Lancaster III W4999 was attacked by a night-fighter, killing two of the crew and wounding another. The pilot managed to return to base in the damaged aircraft.

I have the following (incomplete) details:

    No.100 Sqn.
    Lancaster III W4999

AUS413248 F/Sgt (Pilot) Edgar Lewis PICKLES RAAF (later DFC*)
1366808 Sgt (Flt. Eng.) Andrew Heriot MARSHALL RAFVR +
129358 F/O (Nav.) Leslie Wyndham CRUM RAFVR
    AUS414810 F/Sgt (W.Op./Air Gnr.) Clarence Herbert MACKIE RAAF +
1506853 Sgt (Air Gnr.) W L PORCHER - Seriously wounded.

The incident is mentioned in Middlebrook's, The Battle of Hamburg (pp.285-6 & 390). I have what details are presently available at the NAA on the RAAF men, and what Alan Storr has to say.

I was hoping that someone with access to the No.100 Sqn. ORB, might be able to confirm/correct the above, and fill the gaps!

    Any help appreciated.
