    Default S/Ldr Ronald Jell DFC

    Dear all,

Looking for details on former Squadron Leader Ronald Albert Jell DFC. He was award a DFC for his time with No.218 (Gold Coast) squadron although he was never operational with the unit.

Need to establish his early career, confirm that he was a GD pilot and his involvement with the forming of a H.C.U ( No.1657 CU. I have been told )

    Any pointers welcome.

    TIA

    Hi Steve,

He does not feature in the narrative describing the formation of the HCU but first mention is 2nd Dec 1942:

"Flying commenced at 0815 hours continuing until 2030 hours when night flying was cancelled owing to weather conditions - sharp frost prevailed during the night. F/Lt Jell (C.G.I.) was appointed to acting rank of Squadron leader."

    Regards
    Ross
