    Hi

Can anyone confirm whether Flt Sgt BROOKS, DONALD CHARLES (655341) RAF; age: 23 was killed flying Hurricane IIC, BN540 of No 17 Sqn?

also was Sgt GILMOUR, JAMES MURRAY (1554149) RAFVR; age: 20 killed in Oxford II, V3841 of No 11 (P) AFU?

    Malcolm,
I don't think that BROOKS could have been killed on BN540. Air Britain mentions: Engine cut, bellylanded S of Magrahat, damaged byond repair.
BROOKS is missing and commemorated on Column 424 of the Singapore Memorial. Therefore I do believe he was flying Hurricane IIC serial BN783: Air Britain: Hit water during gunnery practice E of Sager Island (AB mentions write-off date 2-1-1943).
    Regards,
    Henk.

    Hi Henk

I agree BN783 makes a more sensible answer than BN540 and have amended it accordingly pending confirmation
