The 23 Squadron ORB, online at "Old RAF Records" confirms Olley and Moss were lost 9 January, crashed on takeoff for Sfax-Gabes at 2050. However, the ORB says this was DZ236, YP-F. Air Britain on the other hand has DZ236 eventually going back to the UK and surviving the war.

I didn't think of checking 'Old Records' but will have a look.

I wonder whether 236 and 237 have been mixed up somehow?

    Hiya,

Yes, I've found a couple of instances of incorrect/strange serial numbers recorded in the ORB in 1943. Seems the squadron diarist would refer back to his own records re: serial number and letter combinations. In one case he mis-transcribed a serial number and entered one which was simply invalid, not used by the RAF. I'd go with the Air Britain records, use 327.

    Malcolm,
    Confirm V8337.
T4719 not yet in my files.
Also have DZ237 in my files rather than DZ236.
    Regards,
    Henk.
