    Ged has previously posted on this about a new edition of Men of Battle of Britain by Wynn

    If this is still the case, or if he is still collecting info..

    Roy Ainley PAYNE 77788 (not 77789 as has been published elsewhere on net) formerly #700291 was killed while piloting Proctor V aircraft G-AHZX which crashed into Channel near St Jouin-sur-Mer, France, 16th April 1947 on a journey from Guernsey to England.

    Mrs Betty Bevan
    Ms Imogen Stafford-Allan aged 2 1/2 daughter of:

    1 Survivor

    Mrs Pamela Frances Stafford-Allan (mother)

    Thanks for your post.
    This event rings a bell but I don't have access to the records at the moment to confirm that it relates to Payne.
    When I get home I will check Payne's entry in the new edition and report back.

    I am able to confirm that the incident is included in the new edition. There are no personal details regarding the other victims though.
