    Steve,

    Best I can do is:

    Hayward, Cecil Hugh, b 12.07.1887
    P/O 01.04.1918 [02178]
Sq.Ldr. 30.06.1923 (retd 22.07.1925) (recalled 25.08.1939-09.12.1943). Note he was recalled before WW2 broke out!
    Ret 9 Dec 43 (as A/Wg Cdr) aged 56.
All from http://www.unithistories.com/officers/RAF_officers_H01.html. Nothing for Collison though!
    Died Kensington Q4 1966 (Ref Vol 5c page 742) aged 79.

Hi Steve, following on from Peter's post I can add the following from the Royal Aero Club Aviator's Certificates on ancestry:
Cecil Hugh Hayward of Neroberg, Ventnor, Isle of Wight.
Born: 12th July 1887 at London
    Nationality: British
Rank or Profession: Flight Sub-Lt, RNAS
Certificate taken on Grahame-White Biplane at RNAS Chingford, 24th September 1915.

LG of 28th July 1916 shows that he became a Flight Lt from Flight Sub Lt.

    Cheers,

    Tom
