    Default No. 154 squadron Pilot

    Hi all,

I´d like to ask you for help with info - F/Sgt Kretschmer, pilot of No 154 squadron (cca 1943/44). He is mentioned in Spitfire Society Special issue dedicated to Spitfire Mk. IX, EN 199.

any idea will be warmly appreciated

    Hello Milan,

H.E. Kretschmer’s first operational flight with 154 Sqn RAF was in EN199, HT-U on 23rd Sept 1943 – a patrol of the Salerno beaches. Logbook entry states “First taste of war: encountered some heavy flak.”. It was his only mission flying that particular aircraft. On disbandment of 154 Sqn ‘Horrie’ was posted to 111 Sqn RAF during Oct 44.

    Regards, Drew H
