    Default Harvard Accident 18 Jan 40

    Ladies and Gentlemen,

    On 18 January 1940, a Harvard, serial number N7144, of 2 SFTS crashed near Chipping Norton whilst the crew were doing what they had been told not to do!

    The safety pilot, who survived the accident, was Pilot Officer N E Berrington-Pickett and it is his name which appears on the Form 1180. His companion was killed. Please can somebody provide a name for the fatal casualty?

    Three non Squadron RAf deathson CWGC that date:

    AC1 Woosley Edward J 19 Weymouth 5a 1090
    P/O (pilot) Arthur John Mullock not in England or Wales
    Sergeant (Obs. U/T) Chenery Leslie C 19 Totnes 5b 683

    but then Chipping Norton has its own registration district.

    I thought Flight magazine might help but they list B-P injured but by saying
    The following casualties were omitted from earlier communiques—:
    WOUNDED OR INJURED ON ACTIVE SERVICE.—A.P/O. N. E. Berrington-Pickett (42388);

    In the second Quarter of 1940 in Chipping Norton District there is a

    Mullock Arthur J 18 Chipping N. 3a 2727
    He died 18 Jan 1940, a late registration perhaps.

    I'd say thats your chap.
