    Default Special Operations

    Hello,
Can anybody help me. I have an entry in the ORB. Listed as "special operation successfully carried out". Is their any way that I can find out what the operation was.

    Thanks

    Default Special Operations

    Hi,
The info I have from the ORB is as follows.
    Stirling III "K" LJ504 (149Sqdn). Left Lakenheath on the 10/11 March 1944 @ 19:45 returning @ 03:07. Flown by P/O A.N.Ward.
Hope this may be of some use.

    Thanks
    Andy

The Lakenheath ORB records on 10/11th. March 1943 that 14 aircraft from 149 Squadron and 13 aircraft from 199 Squadron were detailed for Special Operations. The 149 Squadron aircraft were successful in the Reignier area, Bourg area, Annecy area, Boage area and St. Julien area. I would assume this was some sort of SOE operation, probably to supply the Resistance. The ORB does not specify which aircraft operated in the identified areas.
