    Hello,

As a "local", I'd be interested to know your source about Marquise as crash location.

At first look, I don't have a precise location, I have merely what's in Chorley. I haven't checked Sgt R. BARNARD's PoW questionnaire, but these are rarely precise enough to the village for a crash location. And the questionnaire is about the "place of capture", which in some cases can be quite far away from the crash site, if the airman was the first to bale out.

I've not finished studying all the Gendarmerie reports that still survive, as this implies visits to the Service Historique de la Défense, and visits there are a little bit more complicated to organise than a visit to Kew (advance booking of a seat, advance booking of references, but no online catalogue...). So the area may be within one of the sectors not yet checked. And all crashes are not reported either...

    Hello,

A friend who lives closer to this area that I do has just confirmed the crash site location near Marquise. He interviewed an eyewitness, who had given some details which match the known details of X9753. So it's not a crash at sea, definitively inland.

Steve, I've PMed you, as I don't have your current e-mail address.

    Joss
