    Default Airspeed Oxford 2112M

Does anyone know if this instructional airframe had a previous RAF serial?

Bill, I think that you are likely referring to RCAF instructional airframe A101 at St Thomas which Griffin lists as the former RAF 2112M.
Hamlin, in his Air-Britain monograph on the Oxford, records it as 2122M, the former L4609.
However, in another reference he refers to L4609 becoming 212?M, so there seems to be uncertainty there.

    Default Airspeed Oxford 2112M

    Hello,
    To add confusion OR NOT
    Bill you probably know this.
    Fairey Battle I, L5053 ex 7 AOS/ 7 BGS - To RCAF 14-11-1941, became RCAF number 2112.
but not an "M" number though.
From other "M" numbers in the 2100 + range I expect the number was allocated sometime between August -October 1940.
    Hope this helps

    Hi Bill,
RAF serials by AB has L4609 as 2122M.
I was not able to find 2112M yet

By the quick galnce into the all RAF serials books I have I was able to find out only numbers like 28xxM, 38xxM and higher in L range so my suggeston is that it might by possibly an Oxford from the K range?

    Hello,
    Took me a little longer,
Paul is correct, Westland Wallace K8700. Reference to K6072 not mentioned in "K-File".
    2111M was Spitfire P9390, and 2113M was a Hawker Audax K7425.
    Date 21-7-1940.
Have almost completed the list 2100M to 2200M from AB series and K-file.

    An Oxford I, V3472 was 6112M - 1 OTU/ 6 PAFU/ 21 PAFU.

    Gents

there is a list of M numbers in an appendix to Bruce Robertson's 'British Military Aircraft Serials'. 2112M is missing, as are a few others, whether by design or oversight....
