This is a very long shot but I'd appreciate any pointers.

Mather was the navigator of a 295 Sqn Halifax which was shot down attacking the Distré electricity transformer on 19 February 1943. I have all the details of events and, thanks to Pierre Babin and Arther Arculus, photos of all the crew except Mather, Unfortunately the CWGC provides little information about him and doesn't even give his age, although I guess he must have been about 22.

I was surprised to find 'Mather' is not that unusual a surname, the CWGC listing 132 Mathers for the period 1939-1945, so I'm really stuck at the moment.

Would anyone be able to provide a pointer as to which part of the country he originated please?
